When the snow started, my first thought had been that Mab had somehow found me here. It seemed so much like that artificial winter in Chicago, sent by the Winter Queen to slow down the Summer Queen's enforcers who were after my hide. This might make it sound like she was trying to help me, but trust me, the motivations were a heck of a lot more complicated than that. Fairies don't wear white hats or black hats - they're decidedly gray, and Mab's is a very dark gray.

It became clear pretty quickly, though, that the only thing that had changed was the weather. No magic, no fairies, and an awful lot of people who seemed totally unfazed; apparently this type of thing tends to happen... One month of winter a year - Persephone must have gotten a good divorce settlement.

So far, though, there were two things in particular that I found nice about the weather: (1) I could wear my leather duster, which, though no longer magically bullet-proof, was just my style, and (2) I could carry around my hockey stick without looking weird. It's kind of ironic, actually - the reason I used a hockey stick for a wizard's staff in the first place was that it looked less out of place on the streets of Chicago, but here it probably would have looked less weird if I wandered around with a big 'ole gnarled-wood Gandalf stick.

Bob's skull is sitting on what was probably a temporary fireplace mantle in my hut. I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I spend a fair amount of time talking to it while I'm alone. Talking to myself, I guess. I obviously need a hobby.

Today, I decided to get out and get some human interaction. As soon as I stepped outside, I squinted into the sun, then popped back in and grabbed a pair of sunglasses. All black, in the trenchcoat and the glasses... I probably look like a cast-off from the Matrix casting.

I whistled the theme to "Cheers" as I tromped through the snow towards the boardwalk.

To be honest, I kind of wished a fairy queen or two would show up to try to kill me. I'm bored.
