Seasons on the Planet were never really stable.

Probably, Yuffie thought, because they'd been sucking life force out of the Planet for years and years, and that couldn't be good for anything. Take people, for example. When they had all their life force, aka BLOOD, sucked out of them, they turned into horrible creatures like zombies or vampires. That was strictly biologically speaking, so far as she knew about biology. And what she knew about biology was mostly lifted from Shinra research, hiding from Reeve or any of the other grumpy bastards who could not take a joke!

It wasn't her real kind of theory though. After all, there was usually plenty of blood inside most of the gross vampire type creatures she'd seen. No, sucking out the Mako of people... that was more like their spirit. Their fun. And when you sucked out all the fun from someone, you got a Vincent Valentine. Or a Cloud, though she suspected he'd somehow eluded the fun-sucking before it got all the way done.

But all of this was neither here nor there.

It just meant that she'd never really seen a full out winter like the ones that happened here. There was traveling to the Great Glacier, but somehow the experience had lacked its essential fun, due to the sword-wielding maniac fucking with her friends. No, the experience of snow had always been sad, because there was no way to stop thinking about the bounce of the White Materia as it came out of Aeris's hair. Snow reminded her of their impromptu funeral at the water. Not even snowboarding and watching Cloud fall SMACK on his ass made it right.

Sitting around and moping was not her job. There were plenty of people to do that, and that was why for the second year ever, Yuffie was determined to enjoy the snow the way she never really had at home.

The trees made great cover, so that she could climb up them or hide behind them and whip beautifully-made balls of snow at any passerby. As a mercenary snow ninja, she could show no mercy. Besides, after Cid had white-washed her that time, she had a few tricks up her sleeve.

Tricks like the snowball that burst beautifully against the back of her first target. Sucker.
