The notice was satisfactory only.  It communicated what Briony needed to make known, but little else.  Jo had more flare for such things, could have made the notice more intriguing, but Briony felt, perhaps incorrectly, that any true writers would seize the opportunity to display their works despite the simpleness of the offer.

Having tacked the note to the bulletin board, Briony moved into the coolness of the rec room.  She had not seen much beyond the Compound's walls in the last week, the increased and sweltering heat being much too much for her.  The oppressive sun beat all energy and creativity from her mind and limbs, and now that such spectres as deadlines loomed closer, becoming more and more tangible, Briony cherished the free-flowing transmission of ideas through her veins all the more.

She sat at table, the ever more familiar computer placed before her, a cup of tea to the side.  Two pages (documents as they were called in this form) were displayed before her.  One told the story of love lost and found upon a battlefield, and one told a story she would never finish.

[[Open to one and all.  Feel free to see her place the notice, or feel free to not notice the notice at all.]]
