I will holler you home.

Scott is in the kitchen, putting some finishing touches on the dessert he's cooked up, which is sort of like a tropical berry shortcake. Sure, there's no Cool Whip, but he thinks little Lisey will like it, just the same.

While he's waiting for the biscuits to finish up, he's sitting at the table and thinking. He brought along a pen and a notepad, and he's started to write a couple of letters to her, but somehow, they all come out sounding crappy. One thing Scott figured out after he married Lisey was that when you bring home the bacon with your writing, love letters lose some of their intimacy. Like making it big as a pop star and trying to serenade your woman with the #1 Billboard song-- it's just not done, son. He settles for making her a really simple card, with a pressed hibiscus blossom inside, and even makes an envelope for it to go in.

Happy 17th Anniversary, babyluv (27th for you, what a trip!)

Mein gott! We're still strapped after all these years.

Everything the same.

Love,

Scott

When the biscuits are done, he'll fix up dessert and bring the plates down to the bottom level, at the entrance to the caves. He'll get a couple of candles, maybe see if he can borrow the record player and plug it in down there. Maybe they'll dance, maybe they'll canoodle, or maybe just sit and talk and eat.

The buzzer on the oven goes off, and as Scott's crossing the room to check on the biscuits, he hears a sweet strain of music that's so familiar it itches. He slips on the oven mitts, only half paying attention to what he's doing as he tries to figure out the song.

He pulls out the baking sheet, with six biscuits lined up on it, golden-brown and dotted with sugar, then drops it with a clatter on the range as he places the tune...

"Ha! 'Too Late To Turn Back Now', Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose, nineteen-seventy-two, baby! Also made famous by The Swinging Johnsons of Cleeves Mills fame!"

Scott cracks up. This was their first dance as a married couple, and man, he can still see them; (though he probably remembers from the wedding photo rather than life) he in his undertaker suit and shoulder-length hair, little Lisey in her white lace dress, getting down at The Rock. November 19th, 1979. Now we are two.

"It's too late- to turn back now...I believe-I believe-I believe I'm fallin' in love..."

He's a regular soul man as he slices up the biscuits and sings along.

[ Join Scott making dessert in the kitchen and getting down with his bad self. For the record, the song is here and it's as silly as he is. Everyone welcome, but if your pups have any good ideas for a romantic getaway on the island, Scott would love to surprise Lisey with something special on their wedding anniversary. <3 ]
