The sessions with Sarah and her baby seemed to be progressing well enough, from what Teyla could tell. Sarah had named her son, an important step in her mind. She knew it was best that there were not crowds during this time, doing her best to leave Chase and Sarah and young Matthieu to their task. But she stayed near, knowing that the sessions ( Read more... )

After her conversation with Cameron, she had spoken to Daniel and then left again, putting New Atlantis behind her. In a few days, she would send Timothy for her books and papers, and the dresses most of which she would return to the clothing box. Cameron required time and space and, she, required of herself that he be given it.

Two days passed and, though she might have gone to his Treehouse as Timothy had invited her to do, Morgan went instead to the kitchen. Charming as he was, Dick's well-meaning efforts at companionship amused more than consoled and she had need of neither. Yet Teyla's unexpected presence offered genuine comfort, that of a peaceful mind engaged in quite thought -

Except that after several moments, Teyla had neither met her gaze nor lifted her tea. Dressed in the clinging forest green dress, matching leggings she had heard called 'tights', and knee-high matching suede boots the box had provided when she had sung to it and asked for an outer change to reflect the inner one, Morgan slipped across the room on nearly silent feet and settled beside her friend, coffee cup in hand.

"Hello, Teyla." Genuine warmth radiated off the words and only enough of her usual reserve to keep Teyla from growing concerned. "It's good to see you." It had been, after all, more than a week since she had been to their morning meditation.

"Morgan," Teyla looked up at the woman, shaking herself from her reverie. It was unusual for her to be so lost in thoughts, her eyes trained on the door but looking only for Sarah or Chase. All others that walked through went unnoticed, friends and strangers alike.

"It is good to see you as well," she relaxed, her shoulders curving gently as she pulled the cup of tea - now cold - toward her. "I have not seen you in the mornings."

"After the island's masters chose to gift me with the Sangraal--" She lifted the pendant that hung about her neck at all times now, whether it matched her clothing or not. "And we spoke about Cameron, I felt it best that I take time in seclusion."

Dipping her chin apologetically and letting the pendant fall to her breasts, Morgan brushed her fingertips against Teyla's wrist. "I hope I did not worry you. I apologize if I did." Though she did wish to speak to her friend about what had transpired, it would wait as speaking of it would not change it. On the other hand Teyla's condition, perhaps, might. "Are you well? You seem unusually distracted this morning."

"Hopefully it gave you the peace that you were looking for," more than Teyla, Morgan seemed to need that centre. When she was without it, she seemed distracted and unsure. "I had not thought to worry yet. Another day or so, and perhaps that would have changed."

"Well enough," she admitted, pushing away the cup of tea that had grown cold. "There are many things that seem to be converging, and I find myself thinking on all of them."

Sipping her coffee, Morgan regarded Teyla and then nodded. "So I believe. It gave me clarity and set my feet more firmly on a path." A path up the mountain, perhaps, but at very least one that would permit a useful life here on Tabula Rasa. Though what shape it would take remained still unclear.

With a gentle lift of her eyebrow, she added, "If it would be of use to speak of these 'things' that trouble you, I am certainly centered enough to listen."

She listened, shaking her head at the Morgan's last words. Teyla had spent enough time wrapped in her own thoughts this day already. "I would rather hear of the path that you have chosen."

"Very well," Morgan answered, but then fell silent. Although she had clarity, she still had no certainty as to where the path led. That made it difficult to speak of, though less so with Teyla who understood the value of meditation as process rather than outcome.

She turned her coffee cup by the handle. As with so much of her life here, it must begin with Cameron. "I have ended my relationship with Cameron."

The nod she gave was slow, knowing that she had expected that to be part of whatever decision that Morgan had made. That it was only the first step of many, but each step was an important one. "Are you content with that?"

"It is difficult to be content with ending something that has mattered," Morgan answered mildly. Did she speak to someone other than Teyla, she might dissemble, or simply submerge the inconvenient aspects of the answer beneath the surface of her inner pool. "Yet I am certain, and unburdened. It was the correct thing to do, as well as the kind one."

"It is not easy to end things, even if you think that it will be better for you both," she knew this to be true in her own life. Letting go was sometimes the best thing one could do, and the hardest. She had been through it with Charin. "Many will tell you that it will get better with time, and it will, and yet, sometimes I think it should not."

"It should not be too easy to say goodbye to what you have loved. Human hearts have too much worth to be taken lightly," Morgan answered, although Teyla may not have meant precisely that. "Nevertheless, it needed to be done for both our sakes. He will have to adjust now to island life without the haven our relationship provided."

Morgan pressed her lips together lightly, a small frown flickering over her features and her fingers tightening briefly against the mug. The emotion she felt was not jealousy, rather trepidation on his behalf. "I am concerned that the arrival of Dr. Lam will provide a disincentive, but I suppose that is no longer my concern."
