Somehow Geoffrey figured this duty would fall on him sooner or later, and now three different elements had converged to make it his turn: he was on the Council, he wasn't running in this election, and he was, in fact, master of this stage.
"Good afternoon," he said, projecting right to the back. He might not have acted in a long time, but he still knew how to fill a stage. "In a few moments, those brave people who are running for a position on the Island Council for this term will take the stage and tell you why they're the men and women for the jobs. Please give them the respect of listening to what they have to say, especially if you expect them to have the same respect for you. Each candidate will have an opening for questions following their speech, so save it up and ask it then. I hope everyone has a pleasant and informative afternoon."
And with that pronouncement he vacated the stage, leaving it for the first speaker of the afternoon.
[OOC: The only top level tags should be Council nominee speeches (or public declining of nomination). Questions or responses can then be directed to any of them. This post is open until voting begins on the 25th]
