The end of the school term brought to an end the team-taught advanced French course and the lingering awkwardness between Mohinder and Daniel that Alcuin had had to navigate. He sincerely doubted that they would want the same arrangement when school started again, but then, both other men were well-versed enough in a variety of other subjects to teach whatever classes they pleased.

Alcuin decided to use the time off from teaching to catch up on his reading. He still had the worn paperback copy of Jane Eyre that the Doctor had given him, and he was nearly finished with it. He'd also been jotting down titles of books during his history class during the school term.

In the kitchen with the paperback tucked underneath his arm, the smell of Earl Grey made Alcuin think of Giles. He sighed, thinking that any second chance for their friendship had probably already been dashed. For all of Mohinder's good intentions, Alcuin was concerned that he may have revealed a bit too much. Well, at least he hadn't known at the time about the kiss and knee to the groin.

He poured himself a cup of tea and went to sit down at the table, only to barely catch the book falling from his grip, and in doing so, knocked over the cup. Earl Gray puddled onto the surface of the table, just close enough to the edge to drip-drip-drip down at Alcuin's feet. He cursed nearly inaudibly in French.
