Hiro had been on the island for nearly two months. Yet he still expected for his powers to return any moment and take him home. Finally he decided that maybe here on Isla Nublar, or Tabula Rasa or whatever it's name was, maybe fate worked differently. Maybe fate wasn't going to send someone across his path to save. Maybe he needed to find his destiny on his own.

This was particularly difficult for Hiro. He needed clues. Sometimes he needed signs, big neon signs that said "Eat At Joe's" or at least pointed in the direction of his heroic destiny. Since none of those options had miraculously happened, Hiro figured the next thing he should try would be look for Mister Isaac's comics.

Unfortunately, the book shelf wasn't being very helpful. It produced a book called 'Hi, I'm Adam', several books about Adam and Eve, and several fairytale books with knights and other such things. None of which gave Hiro any clue as to his destiny. At least the jukebox had played something with lyrics and a beat instead of the usual song it played for him. Of course no sooner did he think that then it switched back to playing his song with a beat. He gave the jukebox an annoyed look. "You are hopeless," he told it and the book shelf before leaving the compound altogether.

Where else might he discover his secret destiny? He decided to try the beach. Even if there wasn't any destiny, there was always the possibility that a cute girl might be there. Hiro, of course, would advert his eyes unlike Ando. At least he told himself he would and chastised himself for even thinking about not averting his eyes. Of course, he countered with the thought what if they wanted him to look? In which case, he would look. But only in that event.

As he walked down the path, he was so busy thinking that he didn't notice that he had strayed a little from the path and was walking right into a low branch. "Ahhhh," he yelled as he fell onto his back. Laying on his back, he looked up at the sky through the canopy and yelled "Destiny, where are you?"
