It seemed like everything was falling into the sort of place it was meant to.

So why did Belle have the funny feeling that not everything was right? Her Papa was safe, the Beast wasn’t as truly monstrous as she had once considered. In fact, he seemed…well, sweet in that way that you would never expect. You just needed to look a slight bit past the surface and there it was, hiding away and waiting to be discovered. Belle was beginning to wonder if even Beast was aware of that and she wanted to run to him, to ask him that herself, but she was so far, now. Maybe if she just looked in the mirror, she could see what he was doing.

She couldn’t go just yet, not at all, not with Papa still so very cold and clammy to the touch. Her hands were getting a chill just from thinking of how icy his skin had been when she’d found him and she could have given him a good yelling at for being so very stupid and risking his life like that! All for her, and look what she had done to prompt it, putting her own life before anyone else’s. Well, Belle thought, she had to get it from somewhere.

“Belle?” That voice, sweet Chip, broke her of her thoughts and she glanced to him adoringly. “Why’d you go away? Don’t you like us anymore?”

“Oh, Chip,” Belle murmured, wishing that she could find some answer that was black and white instead of all this murky grey. “Of course I do, it’s just…”

She was saved by the knock at the door, her answer caught in the air temporarily and the reprieve only temporary (she knew). She excused herself in a flurry from the bed to draw open the door, ready to greet whoever was there at that late and suspicious hour. When she found absolutely no one on their doorstep, though, she started to wonder if maybe she had heard something and made it all up, just so she wouldn’t have to answer why she’d left or begin to explain the strange and alarming feelings she had been fighting to understand.

“Papa?” she asked, turning to see if she really had made up some crazy and mad story like someone knocking on their door in the middle of the night. The trouble was by the time she looked back, there was no trace of him either. What mess had she gone and stumbled into now and how was this possible! Talking devices and furniture was one thing, but she wasn’t about to stand aside and blink, only to be somewhere completely new!

She peered down the strange hallway and opened the door a little wider, ready to explore at the same time trepidation flooded her.

“It’s no worse than an enchanted castle in the woods,” she reasoned aloud to herself, voice trembling only slightly. “It’s just a hall, you see?” With that bolstering her confidence, she took another step inside, shoes clacking on a strange floor. “Papa? Chip?”

[Traditional debut, here we are. Come to play from afar. She is any hall you wish or want, so no matter your personality, you may flaunt.]
