He'd been staring down an inanimate object for the better part of eight minutes and wondering how that could help him in any manner. Actually, no, he was more concerned over whether this made him some kind of crazy.

Chase was standing before the TARDIS, key in palm.

He hadn't gone inside the thing since his little romp with Jo and the fight with the Doctor and not much before that because ever since the constant flood of companions who were better than him, he sort of tried to lay low as best as he could and not shove himself into the part of their lives they might be protective over. Ever since the Doctor kept talking about it though and Jack's incident and this and that and this again, he wanted to know exactly what secret the thing had to it.

"I am staring at a police box," he announced to the thing and shook his head, feeling more than a little stupid because he was actually considering if the thing was sentient. Worse, if it liked him.

He rubbed his eyes distractedly, glaring at the blue panels of wood and trying not to seem so very down on himself. The step forward he took was huge and he pushed the key into the door, turning it carefully to get it open, still looking up as if to locate where you found eyes on a TARDIS-thing.

"Just give me a sign you don't hate me or something," he muttered. Yeah, he wasn't getting any saner.

[Set before his Clinic shift today and catch him as he turns the key]
