like I'm somewhere I belong

Polly was very possibly the only person on the Island who felt better today than the day before yesterday. This was probably on account of what Mr. de Worde had not been able to tell her last night; no news, when one was worrying about invasion, was definitely good news.

She even thought she might venture into the compound for some less than pressing reason. As for instance looking through the bookshelf for anything interesting, which was what she was in fact doing.

Summary: Polly, who's been quite happy since meeting de Worde, goes to look for a book in the rec room. There she meets:
- a post-Valentine's Toby, who is upset and ripping pages out of a dictionary, and manages to have an actual conversation with him despite believing him to be insane.
- a likewise post-Valentine's Riddick, who is vaguely irritated by her presence until she finally settles on Ender's Game and leaves, running into Duo on the way out. They leave together and have a long conversation about de Worde, chocolate, religion, and what exactly it was Duo used to do back home, anyway. Cheerfulness and awkwardness alternate quite a bit; Polly finally admits to liking the Island, and feels kind of guilty about it.
