There were old sayings, teachings that Dee had long ago forgotten that she was certain applied to the situation she now found herself. Words of wisdom handed down from the gods themselves about looking for answers and only finding them when the road ahead became blind. The words of the Lords of Kobol always sounded like that and she was certain ( Read more... )

Sacharissa was passing by when she heard the woman speak. Though the word itself was unfamiliar, the tone was readily recognizable, and she stopped in her walk to head over. "Oh dear," she said, "are you alright there?" It didn't look too bad, but all the same, it probably would be better for a bandage or some such.

Pulling her knuckles from her mouth, Dee smiled as she applied pressure to the shallow wounds, dropping the mess of wires into her lap for a moment. "I will be, it's just a little scratch," she explained, taking a quick look at the cut. It was sore, but that was it. "It'll be fine, I just wasn't paying attention. Thank you though for asking."

"Not at all," Sacharissa said. "Better safe and all that. What is this you're working on?" She couldn't entirely help it. Questions were her nature now, and curiosity was impossible to suppress, even if she'd wanted to, and she didn't want to.

"Hopefully it'll be a switch," she explained, holding it up so that the woman can get a better look at it. Simple questions aren't her enemies and never have been, it's deeper ones, ones that pry and dig in places that they shouldn't that don't belong. "For now it's kind of mess."

"I couldn't even make it that far, so you're a step ahead of me," Sacharissa offered, looking at it. "What kind of a switch?" There are any number of things a switch could be used on, but she couldn't guess its purpose.

"Just a little bit. We all have our skills in something don't we?" Dee offered, knowing that while she can make something out of nothing as far as wires were concerned she couldn't get her feet off the ground and had no desire to do so. "An electrical one. Hopefully it'll power more than room or hut when it's done."

"To work off the electrical cables recently discovered," Sacharissa supplied, nodding. She made a mental note of that. "I suppose nothing should surprise us anymore, but finding those was a bit of a shock." No pun intended, naturally, but not avoided either.

"Exactly." Dee nodded and smiled a bit more, appreciative of the fact that the other woman caught on quick and seemed to at least be aware of what was going on on the island. She certainly wondered if people just buried their heads and called it a day as soon as they arrived. "Yeah, it kind of was. I haven't been here as long as a lot of people, but cables from nowhere is definitely not normal."

"Not much around here is." Sacharissa would have appreciated a few more odd occurrences, really. At least they kept the columns filled. It was her business, though, to keep her head up where others failed to, to get the details where most only had a vague picture. "As strange occurrences here go, it doesn't really rank that high actually, but it's unsettling. I'm Sacharissa, by the way, Sacharissa Cripslock."

"I wouldn't think it would be," she said keeping calm and nice, even though she realised that if most people knew what she knew they wouldn't be as calm about it. "I'm Anastasia Dualla. Call me Dee."

"Dee." Sacharissa nodded. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Dee." The name made something click, and she recalled Dee now - the young woman who had been enrolled in the clinic upon arrival for some illness. She'd made a recovery right enough it seemed. "We're still waiting for electricity out where I am. I suppose that's the price for living so out of the way. Well, that and the walk."
