With a little time to slow down, everything that had happened in the past twenty four hours was really catching up to Ellie. The ring on her finger kept glinting in the sunlight that was filtering in through the trees, and she found herself looking at it once she finally sat down to take a breather before the party really got underway.

She had people to seek out specifically, and she would do that soon. For the moment, she enjoyed the glass of juice she had poured herself. It would be a good day.

Sarah Jane had seen the notice and had been caught by the name of the hostess in particular, so she'd crept down to the party when it was in full swing. Eventually, she had to find her by sake of description and questions alone and made it to a rather promising young woman. "Would you happen to be Ellie?" she wondered curiously.

Ellie glanced up when the woman wandered up to her, and she smiled as she stood up. With people showing up now, she knew she'd be on her feet the rest of the day.

"That's me," she said, offering her hand for the other woman to shake. "Thank you for coming to the party. I hope you have a good time."

Sarah brightly smiled as she shook her hand, happy to put a face to a name and all. "Bartowski, right?" she very carefully pronounced it, so it wouldn't go awry. "I've had the interesting pleasure of meeting your brother a few times."

"Interesting pleasure?" she asked, curious at the way she'd just worded what she said. Knowing her brother, there was probably a story behind it. After a pause, she added, "I apologize in advance for anything that might've happened."

She was grinning as she said it, though. If anything, he probably had just been awkward around her.

"Well," Sarah remarked with a bemused little grin. "The first time, a monkey had stolen a sandwich from him," she recollected with a nod. "The second, he was a roman woman. And the third, he wasn't even at home in his body at the time and poor Casey was having some issues with it."

"I've heard about that monkey. He keeps insisting it has it out for him," she said, biting back a laugh. She really did think he was overreacting about that, still. "Oh, you know John? Yeah, I was sort of glad he was the one who ended up in my brother's body. At least it was someone I knew, you know?"

It was the same feeling she had when she found out who had ended up in hers. If the island was going to do strange things, at the very least she felt comfortable knowing she could trust the person not to do anything.

Sarah brightened and gave a brisk nod. "I do know John, yes," she agreed. And even if they had their rocky conversations, he was one of her friends and she liked having that around. "I'm not quite sure how a monkey can have it out for a person, though," she slowly said. "Is this very normal?"

"I don't think it has it out for him either, but with the island like it is, I'm not completely disbelieving it," she admitted, shaking her head slightly. "He can be a little offbeat at times, so I'm not really surprised he thinks it, either way."

She liked to think it was part of his charm.

Sarah laughed warmly, extending a hand to be shaken. "I'm Sarah Jane Smith, by the way. I admit, I know John more than I do your brother, but I do hope I'll get an opportunity to make better friends of the both," she said, as if pitching a request. "Strange monkeys and all."

She took her hand and shook it. It was nice to meet someone who seemed to be friends with John.

"It's nice to meet you," she replied, with a smile of her own. "I hope you're hungry. I don't know what I'm going to do if there's leftovers."

"Oh, no, I couldn't," she immediately refused with a look of wariness about her eyes. "I have enough trouble as it is with all the good food about, though..." she said, peeking about the crowd on her tiptoes. "I think I could take some to a friend who didn't come."

Trust Harry to pull a disappearing act when he could be making friends.

"That's fine, though I certainly won't tell anyone if you sneak a few bites," she promised. "I tried something new with the steamed vegetables you might like. It's weird not being able to run out for ingredients when you don't have them."

It made cooking some of the stuff interesting, especially the pork. She thought - she hoped, even - that it came out okay.

"I've never really cooked," she was forced to admit with something of a sheepish smile. "So I've always lived in terrible awe of people who could do it and so successfully! Honestly, I tried to cook a casserole once and I think it tried to explode on me."

"I wasn't the best cook either for a long time. It takes a lot of practice," she admitted herself. When their mom had left, it had pretty much been Chuck and her from then on out. It was the kind of situation where she had to adapt or nothing would get done. "If you ever want any lessons, I'd be happy to help you learn how to make something."

"So long as you have an infinite reserve of patience," Sarah concurred with a bright smile. "Honestly, I'm fairly sure I once made a sandwich that was too hard to bite into. I'm that terrible."
