The last time this had happened, he'd gone so far as to roast some meat for everyone. This time, he's still weary and tired of wondering if today is going to be the day Glitch turned up in his body again or worrying that whoever was in Coraline's body was going to find herself or himself in some kind of trouble. So he'd still put out as much as he ( Read more... )

The truth was, the Doctor and Allison Cameron were both ridiculously resourceful people, both having picked it up in their respective lines of work, and the Doctor had managed to find a bottle of fifteen year-old Glenfiddich 2091 in the TARDIS kitchen. There was only a quarter of it left, but he was completely and utterly fine with that.

It was unfortunate that he'd forgotten that Cameron didn't have the same tolerance level he did, being female and having a slightly lower metabolism. Slipping some into some coffee and spotting barbecue (he was so down with barbecue, thank god she wasn't a vegetarian), he charmed his way into some dinner, and drank some of the coffee, way too fast.

This was probably bad.

Coraline's, or rather the body she was inhabiting, attention wandered as she spotted the rather attractive young woman. She felt the overwhelming urge to be nice and charming with the woman. Approaching her Coraline smiled at her.

"Hello, don't believe we've met before have we? I think I'd remember that face," Coraline said, sipping at the coffee and bouncing in her patriotic wellingtons.

"Uh, hi," the Doctor said, looking very, very skeptically at the dorky guy in the glasses. Cameron was regularly hit on, and the inherent wariness was not that foreign to the Doctor. "Are you hitting on me?"

Maybe a little more blunt than Cameron, but the drink did that.

"I don't know. What does 'hitting on you' mean exactly?" Coraline asked curiously. The look that the pretty lady was giving her made her want to run away and cower behind someone tall and pointy. "I just don't think I've met you before, you're very pretty and I have an odd compulsion to talk to you."

"You're not usually a man, are you," the Doctor said, and sighed, taking a long sip of spiked coffee. Also, who wouldn't know what 'hitting on you' meant? Was this a child?

"No! I'm a girl," Coraline said, slightly outraged at the accusation. Although it was understandable her assumption considering she was in fact in a man's body. "Can I have some of your coffee? Cain said I'm not supposed to drink anymore today but I really, really want some."

The Doctor looked up, Cameron's concern warring with his own complete bewilderment. "How old are you?" he asked, sipping the coffee.

"I'm eleven but that means I'm nearly twelve and this body is really old." Coraline said staring at the cup of coffee. She didn't even like coffee but she really, really wanted some.

"No," the Doctor said, "this is special coffee. Even if your body is really really old. I'm sorry." Eleven or twelve year old girls. His mind ran down the list.

Grown ups were so unfair and normally Coraline would have sulked a little but her body refused to be angry with a very pretty woman. Coraline wanted her to like her. And it was confusing as to why.

"Why is it special coffee?" Coraline asked curiously. "And why is it on;y for Grown ups?"

"Because," the Doctor said simply and drank more of the coffee. "There's some regular coffee over there, though."
