Party like it's 1999

The universe itself seemed to be conspiring against Rodney McKay today. From the moment he woke up, it was problem after problem after problem, but - of course - he overcame each one in turn. That, however, didn't make it any less annoying.

There was the problem of the food. Or, rather, getting the food from the Compound to New Atlantis. After that was the alcohol - Rodney had told people it was BYO and by god he hoped they BTO, because he wasn't going to go on an alcohol-stealing spree. Then, of course, was the decorations, and McKay had no idea what to do with that. In the end he found the banner John had used for his own birthday party - the one with the big red 40 on it - and put that up again.

There was also a strong caveman motif, for reasons as yet unrevealed.

And Rodney had never thought he'd say or think something like this, but thank God for Cameron Mitchell. He'd actually come through cakewise, and Rodney didn't even care if either of them were citrus, as long as there was cake. Of course Mitchell had undoubtedly been a bit more willing making some for Sheppard.

Now there was the last problem to deal with: the guests. Rodney had no idea who else had been switched, so it was pretty much going to be a free-for-all with him running around double-checking who people were.

Joy of joys.

Wringing his hands, Rodney checked the food and the drinks on the picnic table one last time and looked around, frowning. Presents. Crap. He dashed into his hut quickly and returned with a rather large package wrapped in what looked like a piece of tarp (you had to take what you could get as far as he was concerned) and placed it on the table next to the cake. Cakes, actually. He hadn't uncovered them yet for fear of being blasted in the face with something citrus.

Hopefully everything would go...okay. Apart from the whole people-in-other-people's-bodies thing, his plans had actually gone off rather well. Rodney smirked to himself.

Now...hopefully people would show up. Even if they weren't the people he expected.

[OOC: One birthday party for Major John Sheppard in New Atlantis! All NA residents are invited and encouraged to attend, and if any passersby want free cake, then, uh...they can try to get past an edgy scientist to nab some. Have at!

Oh - and despite the 'Happy 40th Birthday' banner, Sheppard is actually 39. :D]
