Even if she didn't really have students at the dojo, Yuffie carried on her own practices every day, going patiently through routine and inventing where she needed to invent. As far as she was concerned, it was less about the moves themselves-- not that she left them out-- but about the different principles that made a practitioner into a ninja. Yuffie's practices centered around speed, agility, balance. Strength, bursts of power. Accuracy.
Today, it was balance, with a dash of the others. After giving the chocobo his morning exercise, she'd constructed what was basically an elevated balance beam. It was a good ten feet or so above the sand, just so that if she happened to fall, it was a good reminder to herself. Not to, you know, fall.
She kicked off her shoes and climbed up, shaking the beam to make sure it was secured.
After that, she happily launched herself into handstands and cartwheels, all sorts of gymnastically inclined activities. With no one watching her, Yuffie was weightless and her feet stuck to the beam each time they landed. Curse of the ninja-- all your best moves when no one was watching.
It let her think, too, and man, did she have a couple of things to think over. That whole act first and think later deal really applied more to fighting than anything else, didn't it.
Behind her, Cloud warked loudly at someone's impending arrival, and Yuffie slipped, nearly falling off the beam. She caught herself at the last moment, and pressed up so that her feet were over her head. "Helloooo?"
