She stumbled out of the pub into the cool night air of Dellah. There was one good thing she could say about the people here at St. Oscar's - they knew how to mix a hell of a drink. The trick now was remembering how to get back to her rooms. Why couldn't she have just gone to the Witch and the Whirlwind? If she'd stayed at her local she would have been warm and comfortable in her bed right now, maybe even had a purring cat lying on her feet. But no, she had to go and get lured in by the smell of fresh pies, (not to mention the group of very attractive students), and now she really had no idea how to get back home. In her defense, she'd been on Dellah less than a week and hadn't had much time to do any exploring beyond finding the main library and nearest pub. Priorities and all that. But this meant she was now alone, at night, and...slightly inebriated. And all the paths and hills looked pretty much the same.

Benny sighed to herself, mumbled "sodding hell," and decided it really didn't matter anyway. It was a beautiful night and she was perfectly safe on the university grounds. A little wander about might do her the world of good.

Being tipsy and alone, however, led her thoughts back to Jason. And the Doctor. And the fact that she'd just totally humiliated herself by hitting on a student who was FAR too young for her. What had she been thinking?! Hadn't she already decided that taking this new post meant she was going to start acting like a mature, responsible adult? Goddess, the whole thing was embarrassing. She reminded herself, not for the first time that evening, that she'd made a decision to end the marriage, and it had been absolutely the best thing for both of them. She was better off without him. She really was. Even if he had been the best shag of her entire life.

"Jason bloody Kane and his stupid magical willie...," she mumbled under her breath.

She continued along the path until she reached a grouping of red brick buildings, then squinted in the dim light, trying to make out the name on the plaque above the door of the closest one. Did that say "Literary Department"? Damn. She'd definitely made a wrong turn somewhere over that last hill.

Benny turned around and headed back to the last fork in the path, trying her best to make a mental note to pick up a map of the campus grounds at some point tomorrow. A leisurely stroll was one thing, but she'd forgotten to go to the loo before she left the pub and now she had to pee something fierce. Wasn't that always the way?

Being slightly distracted, Bernice didn't notice the loose stone on the walkway until her toe got caught and she found herself heading for the pavement. As she fell, Benny felt her whole body start to tingle. It wasn't the first time she'd felt a sensation like that, and it had never led to anything good before. For a second she thought perhaps she was being transmatted...but no. It most definitely wasn't a transmat. Far too itchy.

When she hit the ground she realized, to her shock, that she'd landed face first in sand. She looked up, and although it was still quite dark, she could swear she saw palm trees. In the distance, she could hear the sounds of waves crashing against the shore. Sitting up, she dropped her sand covered hands into her lap and let out a loud, and extremely exasperated huff.

"Oh, bloody buggery HELL. I haven't even finished unpacking yet!"

(Timed to too late/too early for this crap. First person in gets the orientation lecture. All others find her wandering, still confused, and probably still desperate for a drink. Anyone who wants to take her to get a one will likely be her new best friend. ST/LT more than welcome.)
