It's going to be a good day today.
Now, Isabel was not the perkiest of morning people, but that was exactly what she thought first thing upon waking. She'd slept in later than usual, the sunlight glinting through the many windows in her hut as a mid-morning greeting. Though she had plans that afternoon, Isabel was slow to dress, taking the time to enjoy sorting through her ever-expanding wardrobe.
After dressing for the day, she headed to the compound for brunch. She told Hyacinthe on Saturday that she'd stop up to see him on Monday or Tuesday. Yesterday she'd been too busy baking things for the market, but today her afternoon was wide open. After chatting with a few people in the kitchen, she swung by the bookshelf to pick up something she thought he might like - A History of the Gypsies of Eastern Europe and Russia. The book secured in her messenger bag, Isabel went on her way to his hut.
Idly peeling an orange, she slowed as she neared the Redman boarding house. There were flowers nearby that were absolutely gorgeous. She thought she might pick one, but then she caught sight of a man through the first floor window, a man who was obviously taking pictures. Not sure what exactly he was intending to photograph, Isabel didn't want to chance getting in his way and so she continued along the path.
Walking up to Hyacinthe's door, a sound behind Isabel made her freeze. Craning a look over her shoulder, she saw it was only Hyacinthe's horse, the pretty bay mare. "Oh, it's only you," she said, laughing a little at her own foolishness. The mare nickered in response. Rolling her eyes a little, Isabel knocked on the door. When she did, it creaked open. Isabel frowned and debated with herself for a moment before pushing it open.
Hyacinthe's hut was empty.
Not empty like he'd gone out for a walk or anything.
Empty like he'd disappeared.
Isabel knew the difference. She knew.
Shaking, she ran outside of his hut. Her bag fell to the ground but she didn't care. She couldn't breathe.
It was not a good day.
[Timed to early afternoon. While it's not the most awesome time ever to meet her, she'll still be friendly! The mare is nearby!]
