living in a movie

There was a machine up in the compound, some sort of strange thing made up of clockwork and little pictures and a wheel, and it took Antoine months to figure it out. But she now knows that the funny wheels with all the little pictures on them go on the funny little machine. The shelf kept giving them to her and she kept putting them back in confusion.

But when it gave her one on her most recent trip, she immediately went to find someone to help her. After all, the wheel had her name on it and everything. Marie Antoinette. She just had to do something with it. So Antoine found the German boy who had gotten her a tree last Christmas. It was an easy thing to do since he already seemed to live in the same room as the bookshelf. She idly entertained the thought that he might have made a good servant if only he wouldn't grumble quite so much. He was cute, she could tell him what to do in her own language and he would do it, and he was cute. What other qualifications did he need? It would probably make that horrid Italian woman jealous too.

Antoine decided to bring up the subject with him at a later time. Right now wasn't the proper time. One shouldn't make offers of employment when someone else is quite obviously sulking about something. She couldn't for life of her figure out what it could be though, perhaps-- Her train of thought derailed completely and jumped on a new track. The German had finished setting up the little machine and she could see herself now. She was on that screen. She was on the screen, but she was also sitting on the sofa, and now there was her dear, wise mother on the screen too.

She was so completely entranced that she didn't even notice the annoyed muttering behind her had increased quite a bit.

[OOC: Is it a canon puncture if the person actually existed? Marie Antoinette has found the first half of her movie and is watching it. The bit she has ends shortly after the birth of her first child, so feel free to have someone come in and see anything up until that point. Alex is also present, but in a bad mood. Tag one or the other?]
