Nancy had been on the island long enough to have heard plenty of stories about people finding movies or books of their lives. It was creepy, true, but maybe not more so than the mere act of being here in the first place. So when she was sitting in the rec room one day and heard the THUMP of a reel falling from the shelf, got up and read the label on the side ("Brick Dance"), and then set it up on the projector out of curiosity, she wasn't completely shocked to see her face on the screen. Freaked, yes, but shocked, not so much. It took a lot to shock her these days.
A voice-over announced: "Previously, on Weeds..." and then there was a montage of familiar images. The grow house, surrounded by gangsters and guns, the pot floating in a swimming pool, U-Turn's pronouncement that she owed him $150k, and... yep, there she went, stripping down to her underwear in the kitchen and then jumping into the pool.
And of course, the next thing she remembered after that was washing up on the island. So what did it mean, previously?
It only took her a few seconds of watching to realize with a growing sense of horror that this was what happened after - all that stuff that Jack had told her when she first arrived about how she didn't have to worry about her kids because she was still somehow back home, too, that had all been true. She wasn't sure if this was good or not.
Strangely enough, seeing this was not making her feel much better. Between seeing herself order her twelve year old son to cash in his stock portfolio, to freaking out in Doug's office because apparently Judah had been shit at playing the stock market and had left her practically nothing that she could sell, to being sent on errands - "white slave trade," as he put it - by U-Turn to help pay off her debt.
By the time she saw herself up on a pool table, dancing for a group of Mexican thugs, she was covering her face and watching between her fingers. Well, at least now she knew what a brick dance was.
[OOC: Canon puncture, ahoy. If you're interested enough to watch the whole episode she's seeing (<3), you can find it
here. Or you could just have a look at
the brick dance, which could be a nice bit to walk in on. :) ]
