That was that, then.
It hadn't taken him nearly as long as he thought it would, but the tasks one dreads always seem greater in the mind than in reality. He hadn't spoken to Tosh yet, and he did need to do that. After Owen had told Ianto how he'd kissed Daniel and how she had kicked him out for it, Tosh was his greatest concern.
But it was difficult to focus with all of Daniel's stuff sitting in the second room.
After they'd broken up, Ianto had slowly started to move everything back to New Atlantis, since Daniel wasn't doing it. But he'd fallen off simply because it was a hassle he didn't want to deal with, Daniel didn't seem to care about the books, and every so often Charlie read one. Now he had enough anger roiling around in his veins to power him through the entire task. Even the small sofa was sitting neatly in front of Daniel's hut, not taking up space in Ianto's hut.
Of course, the bookshelves had been useful. Ianto didn't have nearly as many books as Daniel had, but he had collected a few and intended to collect more. Leaving them in a stack only invited Banon to chew on them as if they were a gift to her. So, once everything had been moved and Ianto had gotten fresh water from the waterfall and had a bite to eat, he settled down in the small cleared area in front of his hut and got to work on a new set of bookshelves. It was relatively easy work, especially with proper tools (borrowed though they were), but it felt good. It felt good to be making something out of the emptiness, like a fresh start.
Sometimes that was what they all needed, even on an island of second chances.
[His hut is just off the main path and due east of the large waterfall, so feel free to let your pups wander into the area. Good time to meet him.]
