"Where the hell have you been, girl?" asked Gunn through a mouthful of what had probably once been a mango. It was kinda hard to tell, now, though, not that it really mattered.
"Around," Max said. "It's not like I can go anywhere or anything."
Though, to be honest, she hadn't been all that convinced that too many people would notice she'd made herself scare. Then again, it was a small island.
If that was his idea of cryptic, then Max was convinced that he needed to work on it.
"Touche," Max said, and as much as she wanted to see people back home again, she had to admit that the island was a big step up from the whole hiding and occasionally running for her life thing.
"I'm glad, y'know," he said suddenly, "that you didn't, uh, disappear."
If it hadn't been for Wesley damn near blowing up at the beginning of the month, he probably wouldn't have said anything at all. But he'd lost way too many people in the year he'd been stuck on Weird Ass Island, and, while he might not've been the closest to Max, she was pretty tight by his standards, and that counted for a helluva lot.
Feeling more than a little awkward, he grabbed another mango off the counter and held it up. "Mango?"
"Yeah, me too," Max said, though she was glad that she hadn't disappeared for a completely different reason. Life was way too chill on the island for her to even think about wanting to go back. It made more sense for her to want her family and Logan to show up on the island.
He could probably use a tan anyway.
"Yeah, sure," She said, in response to the mango. "Do you know how many hoops I'd have to jump through to get one of those back home?"

She shrugged. "But nope, Still here."

And it was usually easier to get her hands on something like apples or bananas.
