"What does it do?"
What it does, what it will do, is get them out of there, and fast. Stirling hands her the keys, and, suddenly, she's dying for a bloody cigarette.
"I'll show you what it does."
Eden half expects everything to seize up around her, but the blast doors are opening, and the car drives like a bloody dream.
She never remembers her dreams.
She pulls up just short of the door and gets out of the car, and where the bloody fuck is Norton?
Nobody else is going to die here. It's a very conscious thought in the middle of no thoughts at all.
The arrow hits, and she sees Norton fall.
Never say never. Bill Nelson's always saying that to her.
Norton falls, and his eyes are on hers as he goes down on his knees. She can't wait for him. He's a soldier, and he wouldn't want her to wait, anyway. Only the one eye produces tears, and Eden can't remember the last time she cried. For a split second, she thinks that she wants to cry for Norton, though...imagines tears prickling in the corner of her good eye.
...Which is bullshit and she knows it.
And it wouldn't be enough, anyway...
Mate, I'm sorry I didn't feel more.
Time to go. She has to go. She can't wait any longer. She can't wait.
She has to get them out.
She turns around, and the car is gone, and Stirling and Cally are gone, and all there is in front of her is a long corridor.
She doesn't need to look behind her to know that Norton's gone as well.
I'm losing my bloody mind.
It's almost habit, how easy it is to pry her eye out of its socket, and roll it between her fingers. It's warm from being in her head, and it skitters across the floor to the corner and stops precisely. Pulling her eye-patch into place, Eden looks down at the screen at her wrist and, she edges towards the corner.
She turns a dial, and the eye turns in place, scanning the corridor for any sign of life.
ooc: Introducing Major Eden Sinclair. And, yes, there's an robotic prosthetic eyeball on the floor, wherever you want within the compound. Feel free to have your pup kick it by accident, pick it up, whatever. Just please don't have them tread on it.
