While Isabel hadn't exactly been a regular play-goer back at West Roswell High, there was no way in hell she was missing this production of Romeo and Juliet. For one thing, John Wilkes Booth was playing Tybalt. How many people could say they've seen him perform this role? No one back in Roswell, that was for sure.

For another thing, Octavia's mother was playing the Nurse. Though the woman had struck Isabel as dramatic in nature, Isabel hadn't thought that meant she was an actress. Though Isabel hadn't been able to run into Octavia to make plans to attend together, she hoped to run into her friend later when the crowd began to thin out.

But the ultimate reason Isabel wouldn't miss this production? Was because Pullo was making his stage debut. No way she'd miss that for anything -- because of the friend code of honor and the fact that it was Pullo. Acting.

A box of cookies and a bouquet of the manliest sort of flowers she could find both sitting on the ground beside her feet, Isabel watched the play in rapt attention, surprisingly impressed with Octavia's mother and how natural Pullo seemed up there (though, to be fair, he was essentially playing himself). The leads were fantastic as well and Isabel just knew that Angela had to have a hand in those costumes.

"Isabel," Atia smiled warmly at her daughter's friend, the high of performing still filling her with a sense of contentedness. "Tell me now, did you enjoy the performances?"

"Hello!" Isabel greeted, a broad, genuine smile curving her lips. Rising, she nodded emphatically at Atia's question. "It was incredible, really. I never thought I'd see something so fantastic done in a place like this, but it was such an amazing experience." She caught sight of the girl who'd played Juliet out in the crowd and smiled before looking back at Atia again. "You and...Kate? Is that her name? You worked really well together. Have you done anything like this before?"

Good, the girl liked it. It made Atia's smile grow, the thrill of praise always the same, though not quite as pleasurable as if it had come from an admirer. "Me? Oh no, I've never acted before. This sort of thing would have been beneath us." There was part of her that wondered if it were not still beneath her; but considering the success of the evening she could not truly think so. "The girl is very good. Ill beforehand, a bundle of nerves I suppose. Talented though."

"Beneath you?" Tipping her head to one side, Isabel silently studied Atia, and then nodded. Yes, it probably would have been, back then. "In my time, actors are completely fascinating to people. Ones that are well-known are always talked about and looked up to, almost as though they were one of your gods." She may or may not have been exaggerating a little; it just depended on one's modern point of view.

"Hmm," Atia raised an eyebrow, curling a piece of hair around her finger as she thought. She couldn't tell, some of the time, if these people were being serious or if it were all some sort of trick to make her look a fool. "Well it seems but another way that our times were different, though I cannot say I would mind that so."

"From what Vorenus, Pullo, and Octavia have told me, our times are definitely very different. Seriously, there are magazines -- they're like small books that come out every month -- devoted to what actors are doing. They sell like crazy because everyone wants to know what the famous people are doing." Isabel smiled a little, thinking of how often she'd caught Maria DeLuca looking at some gossip rag while Michael rolled his eyes. "I guess it wouldn't be so bad, being famous, though I know it wouldn't be up my alley." Isabel definitely liked her privacy, and with good reason.

"Truly?" It was interesting, to say the least. "Of course, I suppose in our time we had fame as well, of a different sort. Some were known, their doings talked about. It does not sound quite like what you speak of, but it is of an ilk."

"Yeah, it definitely isn't the same thing, and I kind of think your time had that sort of thing way more right than the people of my time." While Isabel did have an interest in musicians and actors because, well, she was raised as an American, human girl, she'd never been as into it all as the other girls at West Roswell High. Isabel had always had bigger things to worry about, like making sure no one found out she was an alien. And the last couple of months she'd been in Roswell? Isabel had been worried about all sorts of political things, like exactly what had gone down on Antar and why.

It was a sentiment that Atia was only too ready to agree with, her mouth curling up on one side in a slow smile. Of course, she couldn't say that, not aloud. Instead she asked the other thing on her mind. "Did you see if my daughter was here?"

Isabel wasn't entirely certain what that smile meant, but she'd take what she could get as far as Octavia's mother was concerned. At Atia's question, Isabel nodded, worrying her lower lip as she scanned the crowd. "I did see her just a few minutes ago, though I don't know where she ran off to."

"Hmmm," the sound was non-committal, though she turned to scan the crowd. Atia would not admit to being curious as to her daughter's opinion on the performance, for all that she was. "When you see her, mention she should find me."

"I can definitely do that," Isabel confirmed. One look at the crowd and Isabel knew it might be a while before she found Octavia, though she would definitely relay the message. "Again, you were fantastic. I'm sure you have other people to talk to, so I'll leave you to it. It was really nice to see you again." She was being completely sincere. For all the horror stories Octavia likely had about her mother, as she had alluded to them often enough, Isabel genuinely liked her friend's mother.

Atia wondered again how her daughter could have such charming friends and be such an ungrateful wretch herself. "Thank you dear. I hope you have a lovely evening."

The amusement of both her mother and Pullo performing hadn't dwindled at the show's end, and so when Octavia caught sight of her friend in the crowd, she hurried over, still on the verge of laughter. "Isabel!" she called out warmly, biting her lower lip to calm herself once she was in front of the other girl. "What did you think?"

Isabel was still a bit sniffly after the heartbreaking ending, though she had a broad, watery smile for Octavia when she spotted her friend. "Octavia, hi!" she said, laughing a little as she wiped at one eye with the back of her hand. "I thought it was great! Your mother was...surprising. I didn't know she had it in her! What did you think?"
