Karen is talking to herself, the near constant, sing-song chatter of a five year old girl at play. She's one of those children who gets very easily lost in her little world, and, right now, she's playing School, and her class is ShorHor and Puffin, only Puffin won't sit still, and, if he's not careful, Karen's going to have to send him to the naughty step.
It's been a long day so far in Karen's pretend Island School.
"Puffin, if you don't sit down, you can't go out and play at play time."
Puffin's digging around somewhere behind the settee, which means he isn't doing his spelling test. Karen's not very good at spelling tests, and she's going to give Puffin 0/10 in a minute. She sighs dramatically in a way that she's seen teachers do a lot (not big school teachers like Dad, but little school teachers like Mrs Wingfield). Puffin's managed to get all of the way under the sofa and ShorHor looks like he's about to poo on the floor, and Karen knows how Rollie feels about that, even if ShorHor is totally a house horse.
"I need a coffee and a cigarette," Karen announces to herself.
Obviously, in character.
ooc: Beware. If your pup steps into Karen's eyeline, they're so taking a Spelling test. From a child who can't spell.
