Lois had been on a long walk when she found herself standing in front of the large waterfall. It had been a while since Lois had been swimming. It was sort of ridiculous, she knew. With all this water around she should be swimming every day. That's what she had done when she had been growing up on the bases where there had been pools for her to use. It was still hard to accept the fact that she lived on an island. She never was a tropical sort of girl. Lois could deal with nature but she never felt comfortable being there. She was urban and she knew it. The bases her and her family had lived in when she was young was like a mini-city. Only with more guns and less shopping. The shiny newness of the island had worn off. Lois was looking at this situation more as a imprisonment rather than a mandatory vacation and that frustrated her.
Nothing like a bit of exercise to get rid of frustration, she thought. Lois had taken to wearing a bikini underneath her clothes and the one she was wearing today was one of her favorites. She had happened upon it during a rare positive excursion in the clothes box. It was cute; blue with white piping on the ends. And it had fit perfectly. Almost every other suit she had gotten her hands on was either too small or too big. Lois dipped her foot into the pool of water by the fall. It was warm enough for her. She kicked off her shorts and pulled off her shirt and tossed them onto a nearby rock. After a few moments deliberation she decided to forgo getting used to the water and just jump straight in.
Lois took a running leap off a rock and into the water. It felt good, better than anything had in a long time. She had gotten bored on the island. Doing something with even a little bit of danger to it made her feel good. When she broke the surface she was breathing heavily. It was more out of the relief of release than out of tiredness. She made a resolution with herself to do this more often.
