Honesty's a real bitch sometimes.
Sure, it's good to tell the truth. Saves you the trouble of remembering all your lies. But there's such a thing as too much truth, and I crossed that line hours and hours ago. So me? I'm keeping my mouth shut as best I can. It's a little hard to crack jokes when all you can do is be honest.
Veronica Mars hadn't exactly had a bad time of it yet, and it wasn't like talking honestly with Sam had had a negative result, but the truth was -- well, that was the crux of it, wasn't it? The truth. She didn't like to share. She'd always had trouble with the whole sharing thing. Keeping information shared to the bare minimum had always been her best policy.
Something about it made everything seem off. So it was that Veronica was keeping out of the way of the world at large, out strolling along the stream. She could skirt around straight answers, but it still seemed tough to control the truth. Either way, as long as she stayed out of the way, no one could ask her anything. There were just some truths that didn't need to be shared. Only so much good could come out of it in the long run. At least, there was probably some good somewhere, besides talking to Sam. Somewhere. She just couldn't really see it yet.
She'd just have to keep quiet until it passed. Trouble was, she'd never been much good at quiet either.
