Tea and biscuits

Apr 26, 2008 13:23

Jo was busy making tea and biscuits. She'd had a lot of practise making tea for the whole of UNIT and she'd made some here too, so that was something she was confident about. Chocolate biscuits were something she'd made once for the Doctor from her mother's recipe and he'd liked them so much she made sure she made enough that he could have one every day. Since other people on the island had expressed an interest, she was now making a batch.

She had been fairly confident that she could remember the recipe, and she could, but that was just the easy part. All the ingredients she had found easily enough, except for chocolate. There was such a small supply of it that she felt too guilty to use it all up. And it was probably best to keep some for emergencies anyway.

So they were going to be just biscuits. Except it was a kitchen devoid of any scales. There were cups, but it didn't say how much they measured in pounds and ounces. Trying to work out roughly how much she needed and whether it looked right was quite tricky.

But never let it be said that Jo Grant gave up, and she persevered. By the time she put the biscuits in the oven she was hot and bothered. There was flour in her hair, her hands were sticky and the kitchen looked a bit like a bomb had gone off in a flour factory.

After she ran a hand through her hair, which made it worse, she started cleaning up while she waited for the biscuits to cook. And put the kettle on, so she could at least have a cup of tea when she was done.

It was just a pity she couldn't leave someone else to clean and wash up, since it was always the part she hated the most.

OOC: Come and taste Jo's biscuits! Her tea's good, but the biscuits might leave something to be desired. ST/LT welcome
