Colin had noticed how much things had changed over the past month, but he hadn't really thought too much about it. He'd gone on walks with his friends like he usually did, and got to see how the frees were different and how it'd gotten a lot hotter than it'd been before. And he thought it was really something that it was that hot, because he'd thought it'd been hot before. Probably because he still wore long sleeves even on the island, but he couldn't help it, he didn't like t-shirts and he kept wearing the zip up cardies the clothes box gave him. They looked a lot like the kind his mum bought for him at the thrift shop.

But, aside from it being so hot all the time, he liked going on his walks. He didn't get lost, he got to see lots of things, things like on the telly or what was in the cages at the zoo. Except, without the cage, and sometimes, if you were quiet or lucky, you might actually see one of those types of animals. He thought he'd heard somone say one day that there were tigers, but he hadn't seen any tigers, but even if there were, he didn't think he'd really want to see one unless there was a cage between them. Tigers were supposed to be very big and very mean, and he didn't think he wanted to meet a really big cat that might eat people. It'd be like on of those man eating beats that Mark used to tease him with stories about when they were younger.

But when he'd been going back to the Compound after walking around with Raist, he'd found an animal that wasn't like what Mark used to talk about in his stories. Stories that could be lies, but if there were tigers, then Colin thought they couldn't be complete lies. He thought it must be a turtle of somesort, but it wasn't like any turtle he'd ever seen before. He thought that didn't mean much though, he'd only seen so many turtles. But it was quite small, and all by itself, and when Raist hadn't been looking he'd picked it up and carried it with him the rest of the way back to the Compound.

Now that he had the turtle, Colin wasn't sure what to actually do with it. It didn't make any noise, just wobbled around on the floor where he'd set it, looking uncomfortable with it's heavy shell on it's back. Colin had found some dry cereal and put it on the floor for it, but the turtle didn't seem to want any of it, so he'd gotten it grass instead. But now he had it and whenever there was a large sound, it stopped and ducked it's head inside it's shell.

Colin thought he knew what that must be like.

[[It's a young Indian Star Tortoise that Colin's gotten his hands on. Good time to meet him, he's a sweetheart. ST/LT welcome, I might be a little slow tonight.]]
