I have to admit, I was nervous about the lock-in, although I'm not sure why. I'd been nervous about my movie night, too, and people had shown up to that. Hell, Gideon had showed up to that, and he hated me and Molly Ringwald both. I tried to reassure myself that even if only a few people showed, that was still more girls than I was friends with.
All week I'd been baking, trying different recipes for cookies and cakes and things. When I turned into Betty Crocker, I don't know, but almost everything turned out well. The bar was stocked, and Ellen was behind it, apparently ready to thwap any kids that tried to order booze with a ruler. Maybe I'd actually drink something other than coffee tonight; a drink or two couldn't hurt.
The karaoke machine was on and playing, and I'd made sure that there were plenty of chairs and pillows and blankets, because while I didn't want people to think this was some kind of little girl sleepover, people were bound to crash. I'd probably be one of them.
