Of course, this inevitably meant meeting up with more of the island's menagerie of inhabitants. It was not the most pleasant prospect. But at least he hoped wandering definitely away from paths would allow him to avoid most of them--or at least be provided forewarning by way of approaching huts--or whatever they decided to be since the island had gotten bored.
He'd managed a fair job of it so far.
The sudden assault on the snake not far ahead of him snapped him out of the reverie he had fallen into. Adam watched the dying serpent with a detached sort of interest a moment, before looking toward the man who seemed to be sulking against a tree. Given that he was clearly the only one around, and seemed to be holding an unrecognizable tool, Adam assumed he was the one responsible.
"Quite the useful trinket you have."

"I'd settle for the endlessly inane denizens that are so happy to live the rest of their lives here." It was still a disgusting thought to think that there were those not simply so pathetic as to give up, but to willingly stay. Perhaps their lives were simply that pathetic.

"Oh yes. Thrilled." He gave the man an amused smile. "If I had a plan, I suppose we would not be having this discussion, and you would be quite entitled to the entire pathetic populace. Though I'm quite sure they'll kill themselves soon enough, if left on their own."
Of course he had a plan. But he was not about to go sharing it with the world. His puppets were his own to play.
