It starts out as a perfectly fine day, which Lionel is used to by now. He's been happy lately; most of his problems just involve whether to choose between four by six or eight by eleven photo paper, or the 'your room or mine?' question with Peter. He's almost as content as he can be ( Read more... )

Arthur, after eating, had decided to check out the rec room. He hadn't attempted to get a book from the bookshelf for a while and figured it must be safe enough by now.

He at first notices the pictures on the pool table then his eyes glance over to the young man and the image that he is looking at. He stood there for a moment his hand on the edge of the pool table and finally asked, "Is there anything I can do?"

Lionel looks up slowly, almost like he can't tear his eyes away from the canvas despite the way it makes him feel. He can't stand it, but at the same time, it's part of him in a way nothing else really has been since.

"No," he finally says, shaking his head slowly. "Thanks."

Arthur couldn't be completely sure, but he found himself asking anyway. "It just appeared didn't it?" Strangely in the same room his record had shown up.

"Yes," Lionel answers, and he knows without even trying that right now, he still can't look back at it. Not when there's a distraction standing right there. "It's not the first."

"Something similar happened to me a while back." The record was tucked away in his hut. He was tempted sometimes to get it out, but so far it he hadn't listened to it since Ghost left.

"Should...do you want to move it? I can help if you need." He still felt that he should make up somehow for walking into this personal moment.

"No," Lionel answers a little too quickly, and he frowns slightly at himself. He's not sure what it is, but he doesn't really want anyone else to touch it. At least for now, anyway. "No, I'll just..." Reaching over, Lionel turns the canvas around so it's not staring back at him.

Getting up, Lionel brushes his hands against his thighs and gives the other man an apologetic look.

He shook his head. "It's okay." He wasn't sure what prompted negative answer, but he figured this wasn't the time to question.

"Are you sure you don't want a cup of coffee?" Arthur felt as if he should be doing something, and even if was as simple as getting coffee maybe it would help.

Lionel isn't sure what it is that prompts the kindness of strangers, but he's gotten used to it so much here that he accepts without question. "Yeah," he says with a nod, and an almost grateful smile starting to curl his mouth. "Coffee might work."

After a moment where he's not sure if he's going to just stand there or move, Lionel turns back to the pool table and collects the pictures, sliding them into neat piles.

Arthur nodded as he moved just slightly closer to the door. "The pictures are really nice." He couldn't help but noticed a few of them when he had come in. It made him think of his own camera and the many mornings he had spent taking pictures.

"Thanks." Lionel picks up the small stack they make now, and looks down at them, where Jack's exasperated face is staring back up at him. It makes him smile a little, at least.

With a slight hesitation as he passes it, Lionel picks the canvas up, refusing to actually lookat it, but he doesn't want it to just sit there, either. "It's been a while since I've been been able to work with actual pictures. I miss having a dark room of my own."

"I got a digital camera in January, and it came with a printer doc." He still was getting used to the technology, but he enjoyed learning it. "It's made me appreciate sunrise at least." He had used the darkroom a couple of time in emergencies, but mostly there was someone he gave his pictures to that did it for him.

"Yeah?" That sparks genuine interest in Lionel, and he gestures with the stack of pictures in his hand. "I've had a digital camera for a year, but I just got a printer and tons of paper. I'm still figuring all of it out, but it's pretty neat so far. I'm Lionel, by the way. Lionel Thayer."

"Arthur Stuart." He grinned. "I've only got ten pages to print with, but that's okay." So far he mainly practiced with it. The few pictures he really liked he was able to save so far.

"I'm still figuring it out as well, but it's been interesting."
