It had been fifteen days, which was over two weeks (that's true even in New Zealand) since Bret had vanished into thin air, and Jemaine decided that he wasn't coming back. That was... upsetting. Especially since Jemaine hadn't had the foresight to make tape recordings of Bret singing backup to their songs. Stupid, stupid, stupid! With all the ( Read more... )

Rosemary Palm was more than familiar with sewing metaphors. In fact, she may not have invented the Sewing Metaphor but she certainly played a very nice part in making it particularly well known and definitely throat clearing worthy.

This said, she could especially relate to the lyrics being sung as she walked into the rec room, dressed more like a resident of this Roundworld, but still a good deal like a decent Seamstress. Well, she was relating to the lyrics in the way she thought they should be. "Hem your dress? Now that's a sign of a man who understands how to communicate," she said, nodding as she leaned over the back over the couch. "Can't say I've heard that particular one before, though."

"Well of course you haven't heard it before," Jemaine said, blinking at her. "I just wrote it."

He reached over and scrawled the lyrics down on his notebook and then looked back up at her. "If you were writing a love song," he said, "what would it be about?"

Rosie had no idea what she would write a love song about. This mostly had to do with the fact that she would not write about something like that to start with, and well, she didn't do a lot of writing at all.

"I don't do love." She didn't, it was messy, and it made people stupid, but saying that made her feel guilty, so she cleared her throat and smiled. "But if I did, it'd be like a revolution."

Jemaine looked thoughtful for a moment, then scrawled a new title onto his list: It'd Be a Revolution.

"Thanks," he said.

"Welcome," Rosie said, not certain of how she'd helped at all. Standing up straight, she wandered over to the otherside of couch and sat down.

"So, you're a musician. Why are you writing about love?"

"Because people like love songs," he answered. "I'm going to write seventy of them."

Her eyebrow arched at that one. "Seventy of them? Do you think they love them enough to have seventy in a row?"

Jemaine looked confused. "Well they don't have to listen to them all at once."
