Tonks was in the rec room, sitting in a chair with Teddy, who was nearly six weeks old and already driving his mum crazy. She figured that was a good sign.

Today he was hardly fussy at all, though, instead choosing to be half asleep most of the time, and so she'd taken the opportunity to read to him. She had him balanced in one arm and a book of fairy tales open on her lap.

"Once upon a time," she began, "there were three little pigs and the time came for them to leave home and seek their fortunes. Before they left, their mother told them, 'Whatever you do, do it the best that you can because that's the way to get along in the world.'" She paused and added her own commentary: "Which is very good advice, actually."

She cleared her throat and continued, "The first little pig built his house out of straw because it was the easiest thing to do." To Teddy, she added, "And there you are, see, he's already not listening to his mum. There are bad things ahead for that piggy, you mark my words. Now, where were we? The second little pig built his house out of sticks. This was a little bit stronger than a straw house. The third little pig built his house out of bricks."

She paused to tuck the blanket a little tighter around Teddy and then continued, "One night the big bad wolf, who dearly loved to eat fat little piggies..."

She sighed. "Okay, my little darling, here is one thing you must remember. Not all wolves are big and bad, and not all of them dearly love to eat piggies. Some wolves, in fact, are very nice indeed, and brave and strong and handsome wolves..."
