House had rather been hoping that the new mother and her squealing infant would be gone by the time he had clinic duty on Sunday, and whereas he wasn't so lucky, it did seem that they were getting ready to go

Cuddy blinked in surprise. It was all she could do at first, just stare at the sight of House..holding a baby. And it couldn't be his, or one that he had anything to do with because..well, she'd have heard something about it.

"I'll skip the jokes and ask if you'd like a hand," she said, crossing from the doorway towards the exam table.

House shrugged. "I don't care, its mom should be back in a second anyway."

"It?" Cuddy raised an eyebrow. "I'm sure the baby has a name, House. Or at the very least a gender."

"It," said House, "is a boy. And its name is Teddy."

Her mouth lifted into a smile, and she was pleased that the baby didn't cry over her closeness. "Can I hold him?" It was a quick, impulsive request.
