"Some pig," commented Bee, gazing down at the animal, her hands tucked into her pockets. Franz stood beside her and regarded the pig with caution, as if it found such things more than a little objectionable.

"Don't you start," said Gus, and, though he was frowning, he absently reached out and scratched behind the pig's ear.

She was definately smaller than Hamlet.

Bridget giggled and then quickly suppressed her mirth. "What's the matter, don't you like it? I thought you were a fan of pigs." She knew he would probably rather not be teased, but the sun and the warmth put her in such a good mood that she couldn't help herself.

"I've already got a pig," said Gus, glumly, tugging at her ears.

Ophelia. He was going to have to name her Ophelia.
Jesus.

"Well, maybe Hamlet was lonely." Bee knelt in front of the pig and patted its head gently. "What are you going to name it?"

The pig swung it's head to glare at Bee with beady eyes. Gus raised an eyebrow.

"Ophelia," he said, like he was delivering the worst joke in all of creation.

Bee didn't know if pigs ever bit people, but the look the pig gave her made her think it was in her best interests to stop touching it. She stood up hastily and looked at Gus with raised eyebrows.

She groaned and rolled her eyes. "Well, I suppose you sort of have to. Even if it is horrible."

"I know, right?" Gus grimaced. "And she looks mean." He sighed. "I must have done something horrible in a previous life. Maybe I was Oliver Cromwell."

She giggled again. "Yeah, she does look pretty ornery." Bridget leaned over and whispered out of the corner of her mouth. "But you would be, too, if you looked like that."

"Oh, Jesus."

When he started laughing, it was helpless, one hand pressed over his face.

Bee was glad that she was able to illicit such laughter from Gus, but at the same time she felt bad for him. "C'mon," she said, gently punching his arm, "it's not that bad, is it?"

"Oh, it's fine," said Gus, wiping his eyes with his fists. "I just never expected to end up a tropical pig farmer, that's all."

Bee found herself laughing again, as she so often did when she was around Gus. "I'm sorry. You could always give her away, I suppose..." She trailed off, knowing that he probably wouldn't do it - Ophelia was his pig, his responsibility, and he didn't seem like the kind of man to let someone else take care of what he felt was his duty.

"I don't think Hamlet would ever forgive me," said Gus, still wheezing slightly with laughter. "He'd get wind of it and he'd never speak to me again."

"Yeah, he'd probably be pretty upset." Bee raised an eyebrow and gave him a look that was part quizzical and part concerned. "Did he speak to you before?"

Gus' mouth twitched with a smile.

"You'd be surprised," he said. "He definately has his ways."
