Jemaine was growing concerned after his and Bret's last concert, that maybe their current catalog of songs were all incredibly offense. After all, the mermaid he'd met wasn't particularly happy with the mermaid song, and the woman he'd met on New Year's Eve had been practically livid after they'd played "All the Humans are Dead".
He started to think about their other songs. Maybe they shouldn't do "Angels" in case there were any angels here. Or maybe they shouldn't do "Think About it Think Think About it" in case someone has had a traumatic experience with cutlery to the knees.
Sitting in the empty rec room with his guitar, Jemaine started to write a new song, which he titled "The Non-Offensive Song". Once he had the chords mapped out, he had a pretty good idea of how the beginning went, so he tried it out.
"This is a song for you
You person of nondescript nationality or race
Whose presence I find pleasant, with your fair yet unremarkable face
I'm sure you have a species, and I'm sure it is a great one
I'm sure you have an interesting past but I don't really want to know about it
Yes, you there, you of some gender, probably male or female
Maybe you're not even a person at all, but that's all right, honestly, that's just ace
There are more important things than being bipedal and having opposable thumbs and a pretty face
This is your song
A song about you
But only if you want it to be about you
You being of indiscriminate, non-offensive features..."
