onward and upward

It had been a little more than a month since the events of Halloween, and while Caspian was not entirely up to what he felt was his usual self, he could not sit still for much longer. His recovery was much slower than he would have liked, and it made him restless. The news of the Lannister boy did not help matters, nor did the coming of the snow ( Read more... )

Lucy had been walking down to the dock as well, to visit with Caspian as she tended to do. The purple sail was unmistakable, her bag falling to the ground as she ran towards the ship, calling out Caspian and Reepicheep's names.

"Lucy!" Caspian called out, glad to see her, for he knew she was one person on the island that would be as excited about this as he was. "Come and see - it really is the Dawn Treader!" He held out a hand to help her on board.

"There's no one here but us," said Caspian, as he helped her on deck. "I'd thought, when I saw her, that the crew might have come with her... but it's only the ship." His disappointment was plain in his voice, for as excited as he was about the ship's appearance, what had really made her special had been her crew, especially Drinian, Rhince, Rynelf, and Reepicheep.

Caspian nodded. "I only saw her a few minutes ago," he explained. "Just sitting here, at the dock, as though she'd been here for ages. There is not much snow on her, so she can't have been here long. But I've not been out to the dock for some weeks, so I can't be sure." His injuries from the battle with Sephiroth had prevented that, but now he was mostly better and anxious to be useful again.
