Jude was having trouble remembering the last time he had been so happy. Now that he and Lucy were back together, the entire world seemed right again, and he hadn't felt this at ease while not high in a long while. And the snow made everything seem even better... it made the world sparkle in all its glory, covering up all things ugly and making them ( Read more... )

Sucking in a gasp as I step from the warmth of the compound into the sharp chill outside, I pull my coat tighter around myself and fish a cigarette out of my pocket, holding my hand around the flame from my lighter a little longer than I need to and drawing in the warm crackle of smoke deep into my lungs.

Making my way down the steps, I see someone vaguely familiar, remembering his name only 'cause of that stupid fucking song.

"Hey, Jude."

Jude looked up to see the guy that gave him that big pack of joints and cigarettes with. Yeah, he had a baby with him and everything and Jude had a picture of them stacked away somewhere in his room. "Neil, right?" He pulled the cigarette out of his mouth and shot him a smile. "How you been?"

"Alright. Surviving, I guess," I smirk, mumbling around the cigarette pinched between my lips, "You look all shiny and fucking happy." Yeah, which is a pretty fucking big change from what I saw last time.

What Neil said confused him for a second, but he ignored the "shiny" and assumed it was some sort of weird lingo from some other time or place. "Yeah, well, things are...better." He sighed and squinted as he smoked his cigarette for a second, and then on his exhale he let out a bit of a laugh, "Lot different."

Lucy had spotted Jude right away as she approched the compound, just out of his line of sight, and bundled in her own sweater and coat and scarf, along with thick black mittens from the clothes box, she couldn't help but half-skip as she made her way to him. A wide grin on her face, she came up next to him, and draped her opposite arm around his shoulders, rolling to her toes to press a quick kiss to his cheek. "Hi."

He was a bit surprised when Lucy came next to him, mostly cause he wasn't paying attention even though he knew he heard someone coming. He wasn't expecting to see her, and this was the first time in a while where their random meeting made him fill up with joy. "Hey, Luce." He said with a bit of a laugh as he pulled the cigarette out of his mouth. He blew the smoke in the other direction of her before turning back to her. "What have you been up to today?"

"Oh, you know," Lucy sighed, her breath making a cloud in the air as she turned from him to lean against the wall, too. "Nothing, really. Still sort of can't get over the fact that we've got an actual cabin instead of a hut, but then, I guess that's par for the course around here." She paused, glancing at him over her shoulder with a smile. "How about you?"

"Oh, here, there. Mostly here. I've really done nothing at all. I was hoping I would run into you though. In fact, I was just thinking bout it." He gave her a smirk as he turned his body to face her direction, his heading leaning against the wall. The cigarette stayed in his fingers for the time being and his remaining hand stayed in his pocket.
