Charlie was up early, stifling a yawn against the back of her hand as she shuffled into the kitchen in a pair of plaid boxer shorts and one of Hiro's white t-shirts.
When she saw the man with the baby, she automatically smiled.
He turns to the girl and blinks, momentarily unsure who she's talking to. He glances down at Flo, who's waving her arms unsteadily. "Uh... have we met?"
The pride feels almost awkward now, mostly because he's not sure how warranted it is. He still feels like his involvement in the creation bit of this is minimal at best.
"You should see their mom," he says, shuffling his feet slightly. "They got it all from her. Thankfully."
She does, at that. He had sort of expected them to get smaller and less blue with time, but if anything they've increased on both counts. He shrugs, smiling a little uncertainly.
"You wanna hold her?" The corner of his mouth quirks. "Be doin' me a favor. Been up with her since dawn."
Once, he'd been the type to roll his eyes at how women are with babies. Like dangling a steak in front of a dog.
He doesn't think like that anymore. At least, not so uncharitably.
"Here you go." He gently transfers Flo over, and she gurgles as she goes. "She shouldn't scream. Seems like she likes everyone else about ten times as much as me."
He watches them, feeling weirdly protective even though he knows there's no need; Charlie handles Flo like holding babies is familiar. Hell, for all he knows women are born knowing this shit.
"She knows," he says, smiling faintly. "Don't make her head any bigger than it already is."
He quirks a smile at her. "You ever have one, you'll know. Or do you?" He turns back to the stove, rummaging around for the kettle. "Look like you know what you're doing."
When she saw the man with the baby, she automatically smiled.
"Oh, hey, gorgeous. You remember me?"

Charlie stuck out her hand, stifling another yawn against the back of her hand.
"I'm Charlie...Charlie Andrews."

"Mike." He takes her hand with his free one and looks her over a little more carefully. Cute. Good body. In the days before a certain goddess...
Well, now's not then.
"When did you meet her?"

"Oh, that was Mack," he says. "They're twins. Sometimes I still can't even tell 'em apart." He grins, feeling an odd sense of pride. "This is Flo."

She beamed at him.
"Well, ain't you the luckiest daddy in the world? Two girls this beautiful?"

"Yes. Please."
She blushed.
