A part of Geoffrey is trying to block out the fact that there are sufficient people on the island willing and enthusiastic enough to put on a musical. He's not surprised, having existed in the real world for most of his life, but he's trying to block it out anyway. Still, it's rather difficult to avoid, given that there isn't enough going on on the island at any given time to not hear about one of the larger endeavours, willingly or not.
As an antidote to the the relentless talk (and singing, oh dear god the singing) about Wicked, Geoffrey has decided to plant himself on the rec room couch with a copy of The Wizard of Oz - a large, illustrated version, but beggars can't be choosers - and remind himself what he's always liked about the story, just to make the whole ordeal a little bit easier to bear.
It's been a bit of a trying week all around, really, and immersing himself in a good book - let no one ever say within Geoffrey's earshot that children's lit didn't turn out some good books - is about all he has the mental energy for anyway.
