Peter and Gwen had been married for exactly two weeks now. It was strange to think about it, but it wasn't as though Peter was going to forget about it anytime soon. Or ever ( Read more... )

The Doctor might kill him if he knew he was there. But he had to check in anyway. And he was of the old-school mindset that he shouldn't just prescribe things on his own ticket. Knocking on the door, Chase wandered inside, uninvited. "Hey, Peter, can I talk to you?" he asked, gently closing the door behind him.

Peter looked up from the stack of paperwork he was organizing, a smile automatically forming when he saw who it was.

"Hey, Rob," he greeted. Pushing the papers away, Peter braced his arms on the counter and looked over at the doctor. Noting that Chase had shut the door, Peter's brow creased with concern. "Is something wrong?"

"A little, yeah," he agreed, crossing his arms awkwardly over his chest. "I don't mean to sound alarmist, but...do we have anything herbal or naturopathic that might help with tension...stress...maybe nightmares?"

"We have a few things that may help with those sort of symptoms," Peter allowed slowly. Noticing how Rob was standing, Peter had to resist from prying into what specifically was wrong beyond the symptoms, as something obviously was.

"Are you asking out of curiosity or do you need medication?"

"I need medication," he said, willing to accept that it was for him. "I just need a way to relax the mind when it gets to the point of stress that it can't take it."

Although Peter put a new form on the clip board, he wasn't exactly willing to just hand it over and have Chase fill it out for himself. Keeping his eyes on Rob, Peter found a pen and poised it over the form. "I'm going to need to you to be a little more specific about this stress and tension."

Chase realized quickly enough that a little lie wasn't going to help him and he took the form and grasped a pen, starting to fill it out for the person it was for. "The Doctor's been seeing some things and I want to help him," he admitted, scribbling down all the information he knew off by heart now.

"You could have just told me that," Peter said quietly, dark eyes not missing much of anything. "You know it's strictly confidential. I can't say anything to Gwen, even if I wanted."

The fact that the Doctor is seeing things does not sit well with Peter. Between Gwen thinking she had seen Lisa and the conversion unit in the basement to his own occasional moments where he thought he was going nuclear, Peter has become increasingly wary of much to do with the island.

"He doesn't know I'm here," was Chase's very light response as he continued to fill out the 'Past Island History' and Medical History sections with as much as the Doctor had told him, which was a lot.

Peter's brows arched but that was all the commentary he'd offer on that. If Chase were to look up from the form, he might recognize the expression from Gwen and be able to interpret it accordingly.

Letting Chase to the form, Peter resumed sorting the stack of paperwork.

He finished it distractedly before handing it over to Peter, having included the nature of the visions, including the 'he thinks he's seeing me die' part, but not in so many words. "Think that merits something to take the edge off?"

Taking the paperwork, Peter gripped the clipboard with both hands. As his eyes scanned what Chase had written, Peter said nothing, though his eyebrows did arch a little.

After taking a moment to process everything, Peter set the board down and looked over at Chase, concern etching his features. "Yeah, I'm thinking this definitely merits a little something."

"Yeah," Chase agreed, not quite bitchy, but definitely sharper than usual, concerned with the whole matter and how it was just...god, it was insane. Literally.

Although Peter noted the tone, he didn't comment on it. Another glance at the form told him reason enough for it.

"Hang on a second," Peter murmured before crossing to the lab-supplied medicines. A few moments later, Peter turned to Chase with what he figured would work best. "Tinctures." As he spoke, he pointed to the appropriate phial. "Kava root. It produces anxiolytic effects, so this should help with clearer thinking. We also have lithium carbonate, as you know, but I'm hesitant to suggest it since they aren't so much episodes as nightmares."

Chase wandered by, crouching over to study them and remember back to med school. "Kava root would possibly help," he agreed, thinking that it could at least give some clarity. "And I mean, if nothing else, then we've tried something."

Shooting him a sidelong glance, Peter added, "There's also passionflower we can try if the kava root has little or no effect."

Straightening, Peter backed himself against the counter, the lip from the top digging against the small of his back as he slouched. Shoving a shock of dark hair back behind an ear, Peter watched Chase for a long moment, contemplating. "Are you going to tell him about this or are you just going to...put it in his tea or something?" There was nothing judgmental in his expression at all, simply curiosity.
