Angua and Sally had been put in the same bedroom. Angua tried to feel good about that. The woman wasn't to know. Anyway, it was nice to get between clean sheets, even if the room had a slightly musty smell. More must, less vampire, she thought; look on the bright side.

In the darkness, she opened one eye.

Someone had moved silently across the room. ( Read more... )

When Jemaine woke up, there was a girl in his bed.

To be fair, at first he thought it might be Bret in a wig. But, first, Bret was not on the island. And, second, she made a very girl-like sound as she shifted a little.

Jemaine was very logical.

He didn't remember going to bed with a girl, and he was pretty sure that he would remember, because the back of her head was quite pretty, and the bed was quite small.

Not really sure what to do, he just sort of stared at her for a bit, rather like some naturalist observing a dangerous animal in the wild.

Angua stretched, and rolled onto her back, and opened her eyes. What she expected to see was the wooden roof of her room. This...was a different roof. And a different bed. And the man she was sharing it with was not her boyfriend*.

She fought the urge to change into a wolf, which was surprisingly...and disturbingly, easy. "Who are you, and where am I?" she demanded, staring the man down.

She could smell him, but it wasn't familiar, and it was so weak.

* Not even close.

"You're awfully demanding for someone who climbed into my bed without invitation," Jemaine pointed out. He wondered if she knew about the band. Everyone always thought that a two man novelty band was all about poontang.

"I didn't climb into anyone's bed!" Angua exclaimed, glaring at the man. She didn't sleepwalk, and if someone had tried to move her she would have felt it. She was a light sleeper.

Without taking her eyes from the man's, she got out of his bed and then looked around. "This can't be the Waynsbury place...did you take me here?"

He would be sorry if he had.

Jemaine spoke again, slower this time, because he now thought that perhaps she was a bit on the slow side herself. "This is my bed," he repeated. "And when I went to sleep in it, I was alone. Therefore, you must have joined me here on your own accord, unless there is some great conspiracy involving kidnapping young women and then putting them into my bed. But you would be the first."

Angua unconsciously bared her teeth in what would best be described as a snarl. "I assure you, I would not joined you here of my own accord."

She stalked over to the door and paused. She couldn't smell a damn thing. "Just answer this straight, am I still in Ham-on-Koom?"
