Jane had been a Mama for some eleven days now and yet the wonder and the joy had not disappeared in the very least. Oh! How she could gaze upon her daughter's eyes and not speak a word and yet find perfect content. Today, she was taking Lydia upon her second ever walk in the name of a very good cause; that of suitable clothing ( Read more... )

Jane was very much glad to see a familiar face and she did nod as she revealed the blanket to show a rather small and pink face. "This is, indeed, Lydia. Quite sleepy, yet!"

Cecily looked down at the tiny face with a soft smile. "Oh, my! She is so darling!" Cecily had heard much talk of babies, but saw very little of them. She was glad her first to be met was Jane's, for she quite enjoyed Jane's company. She leaned a bit over to get closer to Lydia. "Hello, little one, I am Cecily, and I hope that we can grow to be very great friends."

Turning back to Jane, Cecily gave he a similar smile. "When was she born? I feel I haven't seen you in an age!"

"Only eleven days ago," Jane remarked warmly and quite proudly. "And yet, I do love her without hesitation already. I cannot imagine a life without her and it seems as though my life was indeed leading to this."

She covered Lydia with the blanket to keep her warm when she became somewhat fussy, but Jane did not mind in the least.

There's nothin' more excitin' to me than the fact that Jane had her baby finally. Now, I'm not a big fan of babies 'cos they can't do much an' they cry an' make messes an' everything, but Jane an' Stu's Lydia is jus' so cute an' tiny an' such that I kinda gotta like her. Like it's a rule or summat. Today, I'm comin' through the basement to maybe try an' find a new pair o' socks that don't have holes in 'em, when I see Jane leanin' over the box. "G'mornin' Jane an' Lydia!" I say, wavin' at 'em both.

Lydia awoke slowly at the sound and began to let out a tiny morning squeal, which Jane soothed with a gentle rocking motion and it was quite a happy moment to see Scout so pleased. "Good morning Scout," Jane greeted warmly. "Have you come for clothes as well?"

"I am," I say with a nod, nudgin' the box with my foot. "I was lookin' for socks, mine all got holes. See?" I kick my shoe off an' wiggle my toes at Jane. My big toe pokes out though the sock an' I giggle.

Jane did smile in return as well, always encouraged by Scout's good mood and she crouched down quite carefully now, both to lightly and playfully tickle at Scout's toe and to allow Lydia on the same level. "I do believe you wished to meet her?"
