It was getting worse. Much worse.
Recently, the strange whispers and hot winds that had been following Cersei for month had dissapated, so much so that she had thought that the evil fortune teller who had been tormenting her so had returned home, as people sometimes did. She had relaxed, grown almost content, and returned to plotting a way to get back at Sansa Stark for playing a part in her torture.
But this week Maggy had returned. Now she was following Cersei everywhere, the queen was sure, using her magic to flit away the moment Cersei turned to see her. Each day she had disappeared futher away from the Compound in hopes of evading her pursuer, but it did not good. The witch was still following her.
Cersei had barely stayed in one place all day, for every time she glanced behind her she saw Maggy there, about to open her withered mouth to tell more lies of a queen's downfall.
Evening found her at the waterfall, utterly exhausted, and finally she was forced to turn and confront her apparition.
Maggy was still there, smirking and laughing cruelly as she advanced. Blood dripped from her hands now, and Cersei knew instinctively that it was her blood, her children's blood. And before Cersei could turn away again, the crone spoke. She said only one word.
"Valonqar."
Valonqar. Little Brother in High Valyrian, Cersei's downfall, her destroyer. It referred to her twisted dwarf brother, or so she thought. It meant a downfall she would never allow to come.
"Begone!" she screamed and threw a sharp rock at Maggy's head in hopes of shutting her mouth forever. But it only bounced off a tree.
The woman had evaded her once again.
[The crazy queen strikes again! Yup, it's that plot, so no one else can see Maggy. LT/ST welcome.]
