It wasn't working. Orpheus was frustrated beyond belief and a temper some would have called Mediterranean was rising in him and his only restraint was his fear of breaking the lyre, his most priced possession

Well, not quite falls. He catches himself on a branch, dangling toward the ground, looking petulantly at the screaming person. People ought not go yelling about like that just when someone is above them. It startles you.
He dangles there for a moment, catching his balance. Bugger.
A boy fell out of a tree right above him and Orpheus jumped. "My gods!" he exclaimed in Greek, then remembered to shift to English before addressing the boy, who, he realised, would have been there the whole time, seeing him play. He blinked up at him. "You okay?" he asked, almost but not quite reaching for him to support him or something if he needed it.
"Sorry..." Orpheus felt a bit sheepish just now, both for startling the boy and for letting anyone see that outburst. "I not know you there." He supposed he owed an explanation since he'd nearly startled this one into falling. "My music," he said, hoping he could find words for this. "Not working. Island..." he sighed in frustration and threw out his arms in a gesture of even more frustration, "I go mad."
Moril shrugs. "It's all right," he says agreeably. "I didn't really think it was on purpose." At the mention of the music not working, he just nods, looking resigned. "I know. Mine too."
"You play music?" Orpheus all but forgot his anger and even his shame. "What music?" This was great, meeting more musicians, especially one who could do things with music! He had never heard of that before. "What it do?"
Mountains. Orpheus grinned widely. Amazing. This one had been able to do things on an even bigger scale. "Mountains." He was duly impressed. "I make animals come," he said. "Make happy and quiet. Make trees bigger. Birds sing." His words were insufficient, but all words were when describing music, so for once it did not bother him as much. "Now... sounds nice..." He nodded in understanding.
"Once," Moril nods. "I was just getting good at it, though, before I got here." He shrugs, as if it doesn't matter anyway, though of course it does. "Yeah. So you got it back, too? For a while?"
Orpheus was truly sorry to hear that this one has not been able to reach the hight of his skills. "I got back, yes," he said with a nod. "Think was two days. I miss..." Yes, he could still play, but it was not quite the same like this.
"Yes. Would very much like," Orpheus said, smiling to the boy. The experience of playing with someone else was not one he had had more than a few times and he would very much enjoy it. "I am Orpheus," he said, figuring it was time for an introduction.
"Moril," Orpheus said with a smile. That he could remember, he wasn't sure he would have managed the boy's full name. "I live by river alone," he explained.
