Getting out was not much of a possibility. Ando realized this as soon as Hiro admitted that he couldn't stop time or teleport. Even those few days when Ando was seemingly just as special as everyone else so long as he had a wand proved to be useless when it came to getting off the island and back to real life. It was disheartening, but gradually Ando was beginning to accept the fact that there was no going home right away. He still had hope that whatever the Hiro in his time was doing back home was successful.
Ando hadn't been up to the compound much since his arrival. He went for dinner on the first evening he was there and then the wands appeared and he could feed himself. But those were gone now, for two whole days and Ando'd been forced up the path at least twice a day to get food and explore. Still, the building sort of creeped him out so he tried not to spend too much time there.
Like now. Now he was trying to get a book off the shelf and get back to the Hidden Hamlet so that he could read and try to continue to work out ways in his head to get Hiro's powers back. He just wanted a novel. That was it. A nice thick novel in either English or Japanese, it didn't matter. He wasn't picky about what it was about so long as it was a novel. What was the shelf giving him?
Comic books.
He wasn't into comics like some people were.
And so, the ground around Ando's knees (for he was kneeling to get to the lower shelves of the shelf) was littered with discarded comic books. First issues of Batman, Superman, Spiderman, and practically anything under the sun that one could think of were piling up on the floor. And what wasn't comic books in particular were graphic novels and collected works. Shoujo manga in particular was common in the volumes of other books on the shelf. Ando really had no use for Sailor Moon. Really.
By the fourth first issue X-Men he came across, Ando was beginning to think that the bookshelf had it out for him.
He sighed and hung his head. "Just please, anything but comics. I'll even take a 'how to' book."
The next book his hand fell upon was 'Revolutionary Girl Utena' and Ando knew he was doomed not to get what he wanted today.
[ooc: open to any and all. really good time to meet him despite his frustration with the bookshelf. st/lt welcome.]
