Do you call them Doctors Chase or Doctors Doctor?

There was a hastily written note tacked to the bulletin board in rounded letters:

Congratulations to Dr. Rob Chase and The Doctor!Because they were great prats and didn't invite anyone to their wedding, there will be a wedding party for them this evening, the 30th of August at The Hub. Friends and acquaintances invited. Presents welcomed, but not ( Read more... )

He might have scowled at the language of the note any other day, but he was still in a surprisingly good mood when he got to the Hub (dressed in a somewhat shiny black suit jacket and beige button-down and pair of jeans). But as it was, he just laughed at Bridget being Bridget and made a note to thank her a lot for the thought of putting something like this together.

Normally, he hated parties. But then, normally he hated the idea of committing to one person. So he'd been proved wrong more than once in the past little while.

With a drink in hand, he adjusted his jacket and took a deep breath. He could do a party. Easily. After all, there was liquor. And possibly later, karaoke.

Marian felt odd having no true gift, but she felt she should go and wish Rob well. In support of their fledgling frienship if nothing else.

Smiling somewhat nervously she approached him, a few small coins she had brought to the island on her person wrapped in a piece of lether. "It's a silly gift, I realize, but it is all I could manage." perhaps the smith could fashion something of the silver bits.

Chase gave Marian a surprised look when she approached, putting down his drink on the bar counter and taking them into his hands. "You really didn't need to get us anything," he pointed out.

"It would have been rude to not give you something to commemorate this, to mark this change in your lives. Do people of your time not give gifts?" She wondered if she had erred.

Chase gave her a surprised grin at that. "No, we definitely have gifts," he promised, studying the coins in his hand. They really were beautiful. "I just didn't expect them, considering I got married without telling anyone."

"Because you wed in secret does not mean your friends do not get to celebrate your ood fortune," Marian responded with a stubborn smile. "Consider it lucky so many hold you in such goodd regard. I thought perhaps the smith could make something with them."

"You got any ideas?" Chase asked, with his very best hopeful look on his face, because he was currently too tipsy to really...what was the word? Right. Think.

"Perhaps a token of some sort, or pendants?" She wasn't aware of the skill level of the smith here, but she was sure they would come up with something.

"That would be nice," he agreed, setting the idea aside. "I'll have to think about it some more when I'm sober," he promised. "And thank you, again."

"You are welcome." Marian took a step back. "You should go enjoy your gathering."

"So we're not just prats, but 'great prats,'" the Doctor noted to Chase, equally well dressed in jeans and a jacket (pinstriped, natch). "I feel like I need a t-shirt. Or something very Christopher Lloyd, 'great prat, Marty!' that sort of thing."

He might have already found the booze.

Chase turned and grinned when the Doctor found him (or did he find the Doctor? Nah, didn't matter). "Aren't you the one who needs to be amazing? Shouldn't you be pleased we're horrible, terrible, humongous prats who don't deserve to live?"

The Doctor skimmed the room. "Some people might think that already," he noted, seeing House, for starters. "Besides, everyone thought that of me before! At home! Now I am a nice guy."

Chase grabbed the Doctor by the chin, leaning in to kiss him deeply, easing closer and smiling just a smidgen, just a touch, a tad besotted. "Are you?" he asked, grinning.

The Doctor leaned in, slightly wavery. "No, I'm actually a prat," he admitted, quietly, then kissed Chase back. Hard.

Really, people were supposed to expect it of them, so he just stumbled back a step, wrapping his arm around the Doctor's waist and kissed him hard as he could, parting his lips to take the kiss to a much happier next step.
