It had taken Lucy days to find everything she needed to make Susan and Jon a gift for their wedding. She'd borrowed needle and thread, found material she'd thought would work in the clothing chest along with ribbons she'd removed from some items. The flowers had been easiest, those she'd picked earlier that week and dried inside of her room. What had been hard was taking a few small wood chips out of the back wall of the wardrobe when neither Susan or Jon were around.

Now it didn't seem so simple. She'd cut the star shapes out of the silver and gold cloth (it had been a dress she suspected, but not one anyone should ever have worn), eight of them, for four hanging stars. Once she'd sewn them up she would stuff them with some fabric scraps and the dried flowers and a chip from the wardrobe each. In the end she'd sew the ribbons on so they could hang them. It reminded her of some of the christmas ornaments her mother had made once, and it had seemed so simple then.

Today it did not seem that way, if her pricked fingers and the frown on her face were anything to go by. She only had til Saturday, this needed to be finished! Taking her most recently pricked finger out of her mouth she gave the material a look determined to make this work this time.
