It wasn't like he wanted to get out of bed, but with the Doctor checking on people, Atalanta had only had one of them to poke and prod at. And besides, he was supposed to be practicing 'being fine', as it were. Not like he actually was yet, between the odd tremor here and there, the hip-wound, not to mention the inane and deep fear that if he fell asleep, he would be back in dinosaur territory.
He felt like there was a cloud hanging over his head, alternating between dark storms and silver linings.
But did any of that stop a collie from tugging his blanket forcibly off him and yipping? No. No, definitely not. So he'd yanked on a pair of sweats and a grey t-shirt, rubbing at his eyes as he wandered with Atalanta out the front door, walking very gingerly as he went; alone again. His hair was a complete mess, but he hadn't even bothered to fix it; that said something about the enormity of the situation, but Chase wasn't thinking about that.
Instead, he had shoved his hands in his pockets, sighing as he wandered after his dog (their dog, whatever) and followed her, every step away from the Treehouse giving him an uncomfortable twinge in his stomach. He didn't want to be this far out of bed. Bed was safe. Bed was warm and nice and protected. But no, the dog kept leading him up to the path, sniffing here and there and every time Chase thought she was ready to do her business, she kept searching.
"Come on, Atalanta," he sighed, tiredly, something in his tone that belied irritation. Then, if you hadn’t slept properly in days, irritation would be quick to come.
His shoulders hunched in on themselves as yet another minute passed away from the Treehouse.
The worst part about the whole thing was that he just wanted to see everyone. Just to see them, but he didn’t even want to go fifty feet from the Treehouse. He had issues, all right. More issues than GQ, the Doctor had once said. How right he’d been.
